Two weeks ago England had a Bank Holiday and all the Brits had the day off. The Americans however, did not...so we played hookie. Adam called into work and we spent the day in Woodstock at Blenheim Palace.
We did not go inside the palace to see Sir William Churchill birth place, we did that a few years ago. No this time we stayed outside and enjoyed the weather...and the jousting tournament.
Other than in the movie A Knights Tale with Heath Ledger, I had never seen jousting before. It was fun and exciting. Spencer wanted to hold the video camera,
he made sure to document the spectators' bums for us. After the tournament and a birds of prey demonstration we went exploring. We stumbled across a secret.
...I guess it wasn't too secret. The Garden was beautiful and it was nice respite from the sun.
There were so many beautiful and even exotic flowers in the garden but the one Natalie liked best was the one that reminded her of our backyard.
We finished our day in the "kidz zone" fully equipped with a butterfly house, hedge maze, chess boards and other like games with pieces the size of Natalie, and several play grounds. Needless to say the kids slept most of the drive home.
