Cheap and Refreshing

Beeston Castle and Geocaching

We've been putting together our timeline and we can't ignore the fact that we'll be heading back to Maryland soon. It wont be long before we are shipping off our car and we will no longer be able to go site seeing over the weekends.

Beeston Castle has been on our list for a long time and we finally decided to go before time ran out.
Beeston Castle is on top of a fantastic hill, it wasn't fantastic to climb but it made for an amazing view! I tried my best to capture the steepness of Beeston's hill...my pictures don't do the hike justice...
On our way back down the hill we spotted a trail in the woods, so we decided to follow it...
We didn't realize it at first but the path we happened on circled around the outside wall of the castle. We definitely got our walking in for the day.
On our impromptu hike we spotted some wildlife...sort of.
After all our walking/hiking around Beeston Castle I was exhausted, BUT we still had another agenda to attend to....Geocaching.
My brother gave this geocaching coin to us almost a year ago. He is the one that told us about geocaching and asked us to put this coin somewhere in England. Mission accomplished!

This was my first time geocaching, and I have to tell you, it is exhilarating and addictive. It is essentially a big game of hide and seek. You use a navigational system to find the general location of a cache and then the hunt begins. A cache is usually some sort of waterproof container, obviously hidden, with a log book inside so that once you find it you can put your name or a little message to prove you found it. People also leave little trinkets and things.

Geocaches are all over the world. If you go to geocaching.com you can search for caches near you. Good luck and happy hunting!
